On this page we'll bring you photos of the fun things that we are doing.  Who knows, you may find yourself in one of the photos as well!!!!!

The Selene 2006 rendezvous was held at Roche Harbor at the end of April.  If you've never been there, it's on San Juan Island and is a great place to visit.  It boasts a hotel, gift shops, restaurant, marina and some lovely gardens.

Here are some pics to give you an idea

While at the rendezvous, I walked up to the sculpture park.  In the 4 years that I've been going up to Friday Harbor, I've never made it out there.  It was well worth the trip.

Local artists display their art in a natural setting.  You walk along pathways and find the art on the path. Here are some of my favorites.

IIIIIIIIII love a parade.  Do you know that song???  It was written with Brian in mind!!!!  Opening day of boating season is a must.  This year the theme was "fly your colors", so we all donned the tie dye and danced to Jefferson Airplane.  And later at the yacht club, we humbly accepted our award for best overall!!!

The Snohomish motorcycle show on 5/21/06 was great fun.  Left, those of us who attended. Middle pic is of Brian, sister Vickie and Steve enjoying a little I scream you scream we all scream for ice cream, and my favorite entry in the show was the bike with flames coming out of the pipes.  (if ya look hard you can see them!!)

One of the joys and musts of the show is when the Cossacks perform.  They are a motorcycle group that does some amazing things.  Here are some of their feats. For more information and to find out where they are performing, see http://www.seattlecossacks.com/

We took a bike trip to Sun Mountain Lodge outside of Winthrop on memorial day, stayed the night, then headed back on the north cascade loop to Chelan and over Stevens Pass.  The two pictures on the left are at a campground we stopped at and Brian made some repairs.
I found my shadow made a very cooperative photo model. :-):-)  Brian in the hot tub that looked out on the mountains and me in front of the lodge.  It is a fantastic place if you ever get the chance to go there.  Everywhere seems to have a phenomenal view.  There are horses for trail rides, tennis courts, pools, hot tubs, spa (where we had a great massage), a game room, a little library where you can pick up something to read and great restaurant.  Check out the lodge at http://sunmountainlodge.com/

Trawler Fest is held in Poulsbo annually.  Brian points the way to it for us all. There was a cocktail party hosted by Friday Harbor Yachts on Thursday night (we're eating nibble food, drinking and making merry in the middle picture).  We went for a walk around the marina and stopped to watch the clogging class.  That was interesting, and if we'd gotten there sooner, we might have been able to just clog our way into it.  Ah well, perhaps next year.

WOW!!!  On our way to Stewart Island with Glenn and Barbara, she mentioned that she'd never seen Orcas.  We spotted the whale watching boats not long after and took a little detour, and were treated to a spectacular whale show.  We saw the leaders who were breaching and giving a great show, then the rest of j pod followed along.  We were stopped in just the right spot and part of the whales went by within 10 feet of the starboard side then the rest of them passed by the port side.  It was truly an amazing first time for Barbara to see Orcas!!!!
Glenn and Barbara joined us for an overnighter on Stewart Island.  Far left, Glenn and Brian go for a dive, middle are Glenn and Barb, and Glenn and I went out for an evening kayak.  .Great get away with some great company.  Barbara is the real estate agent that sold us our condo.  If you need a good agent, she's at barbaramcmahon@seanet.com with John L Scott.

The weekend before the 4th of July, we headed up to Sucia Island.  It is one of the San Juan Islands, and is a wonderful place to drop anchor and go ashore for hiking, or do some diving, or just enjoy the amazing view of Mt. Baker.  Far left shows a bit of the bay and the numerous boats that were there with us. Middle is Howie, Diane and me, and the last photo were the wake jumpers.  We had the fly bridge door open and I heard screaming.  When Brian went to check it out, we found some kids having a blast jumping the wake in their dinghy.

What's 4th of July without a parade???  Friday Harbor has a wonderful local parade that the whole town turns out to see and much of the town participates in.  Brian has been in the parade for the last 20 years and this is the first year that he got to actually SEE the parade.  The last picture in this row is one of my two favorite parts of the parade.  It's the animal shelter.  They bring the dogs out for a little walk and maybe a heart tug that will give them a good home.  I always enjoy watching them.
The other favorite part is the convalescent center.  The first picture shows part of it.  The older folks in wheel chairs are part of the parade, and this year they had a truck where they sat in the back and waived to the crowd.  The middle photo, everyone loves a clown and what's a parade with out the back to the future delorean???  There were so many fun photos, it was really hard to just pick a few.

At about 6 o'clock, the group called the Time Benders takes over the rock the dock event.  It's held in the parking lot just up from the marina, and it's a blast.  The group is pure fun.  They do songs starting with the 40's and work up to the 80's with the costumes to go along with it.  The first photo is the beach boy set, the next is the Elvis, and last, Brian and I rocked the dock as well.  Everyone of all ages gets down and boogies fun is everywhere.  To get a good idea of the band, check out http://www.timebenders.com/

Before starting on the trip to Harrison Hot Springs, Brian and his sister Vickie, John and Lainey joined thousands of others on the ride for the troops down in Tacoma.  From there, we headed to the hot springs and were lucky enough to hit it for the art festival which includes some amazing sand sculptures.  We were just strolling around before dinner and didn't want to have to cough up the money to go in, so we looked over the fence and got a few pictures free!!!!!:-):-) (middle picture) The far end is a shot looking up the lake there.
Far left, Brian, John and Lainey in front of the lake.  After dinner, Lainey and I hit the liquor store for some Okanogan White Grape, while the boys hit the cherry stand for some fresh cherries, and since Brian is unable to pass a place with spumoni ice cream, they all did the "I scream, you scream we all scream for ice cream."  It's one of Brian's favorite things to do. :-):-):-)

We took a trip to Mt. Baker on the bikes and what a fantastic day to do it.  Had to stop at the Frosty Inn for a little lunch on the way up (far left), then headed for the twisty roads.  Interestingly enough, all the times that we have been up there on the bikes, there is a road at the top, that I've never noticed.  It happened to be open so we went up to take a look.  First off, it's this big switch back which made me a little nervous looking over the cliff to the right side, and then part way up you have to "pay your dues", which we didn't do.
Sooooooo, when we got to the top and I was ever so proud of finding a place to park, Brian seemed less than enthusiastic.  I wanted to get off and take pictures, but over the LOUD pipes on his back, he managed to convey that the park ranger was handing out tickets and he wasn't too far behind me!!!:-)  So off we went, but it's well worth the ride up there next time you go to Mt. Baker.

Oyster run........what can I say???  Saturday, we took a ride up to Scooter Stuff on the road to Lake Whatcom off of highway 9.  Far right, I'm trying to pretend I know something about bikes with the biker dude, middle are (left to right) Gayland, Lisa, Vickie and Bill who went on the ride with us.  Gayland and Lisa do a lot of great rides with us!!!!  Far right is in the garage next day, preparing for the ride to Anacortes.
We met up with some other bikers in the morning, did breakfast then headed up to the Oyster run.  We started out with them, but promptly lost them, so we went off with some of the other bikes and met them later on.  It's part of the biker gang on the left.  Middle shot, I'm going to make the transition back to the dark side (cruisers) so was trying out a few bikes while at the show.  And of course there are always the "I want to be seen" girls, so have to throw this shot in.  Lucky for them it was a warm day!! :-)

We got a chance to head over to Leavenworth on the bikes before the rain came.  The colors of fall are fantastic.  I think in about another week to week and a half, they'll be even more spectacular.  We went Oct 5, so head on over in a week or so and you'll be rewarded.  We stopped at the Pass (far right) for a pit stop, a picture (middle) and put on a few more clothes for Brian.

We stopped at a place we usually stop at for lunch, the 59er diner.  Fun little place this side of Leavenworth.  Then we rode on in and stopped about long enough to take a few pictures and then headed out of town and took Blewitt pass to I-90, went through North Bend, Snoqualmie, Duvall, Monroe, Snohomish on the back roads.  Great day for a ride!!!!  For those of you who don't know anything about the little Bavarian town of Leavenworth, check out the  very cool slide show at http://www.leavenworth.org/camera/

The San Juan Island Yacht Club put on their annual "frost bite cruise" Oct 13-15th.  What a blast.  We went to Stuart Island.  We arrived to beautiful weather on Friday, so I took the opportunity to go for a kayak ride.  There was a surprise pumpkin decorating contest and far left are the results.  They were pretty cool for no warning and just having to improvise!!!  Brian and I in the middle enjoying the "docktail hour" Friday night, and the infamous campfire with smores after the "meat loaf" theme dinner on Saturday.

Friends Lainey and John put on a western theme party at the yacht club.  Left is John in the middle and Brian to the right of him.  Middle is Sasha goes blonde with Lainey.  Pic on the right, Barb and Glenn came up for some diving.  We headed up to Stuart Island for a couple of days of diving, dinghy rides and a walk around the island.

Brian and I took a trip to New Mexico to sadly evict the renter of the house we have there.  It all worked out fine and we had a chance to enjoy ourselves.  Far left is on the road to Santa Fe, middle is brian and a buddy of his, right is a picture of a church there.  Santa Fe is an artsy "expensive" town, but there are some very cool things if you're into the south western theme.
Here's a little local artwork.  The town, and all of New Mexico for that matter, is full of galleries.  They are in every small or big town that you go through down there.  When we have more time, we'll get a chance to look at some of them.  I'd like to see the Georgia O'Keefe museum in Santa Fe.  There are so many places to explore when we winter there someday.
We had a day to go to the Jemez hot springs.  They are some natural springs and have many different locations that you can go to.  Not having our "hiking boots" with us, we chose to take a less aggressive hike.  These are pictures of the road to the springs.  The terrain of New Mexico changes so much when you head in different directions.  The red clay is beautiful.
The trail to the springs was pretty easy.  Left, Brian at the head of the trail, middle is Brian in "the cave" where it is the hottest, and right is me in the next pool out from the cave.  There is another pool below that is the coolest of them, but it was only about two foot deep, so we didn't explore it.  We had the place to ourselves for a bit and were then joined by two other couples.  It was fantastic and we look forward to enjoying it often when we're there.  Anyone who comes to visit us, we'll be happy to take you as well!!!
We rented Harleys for a day and took a 300 mile loop that took us out to the ice caves.  They are at the site of a volcano eruption.  Unfortunately we didn't get a good picture of them.  You can get info on them at http://www.icecaves.com/  It's pretty cool.  Far left picture is on the trail to see the cave.  The ground is all lava.  Middle is us in front of the cave which is too dark to see in the background, and right is the view from our front yard of the Sandia mountains.  We had a great time and look forward to spending time down there.

This was our last Thanksgiving up at Stuart Island.  Vickie and nephew Moe were there as was Jim Slocum who comes every year.It will be different being somewhere else next year, but new traditions are just waiting to be made.  Far left, we chow down, middle is the sunrise on the way home, and far right, Brian went to the Stones concert in Vancouver B.C. the next day.  For those who don't know, we've left Friday Harbor and are now at the condo in Everett, due to a change in the business.

We bundled up and went to the toy run in Olympia on Dec. 2nd.  Thousands of bikes gather at a parking lot in Lacey and then drive down through town to a designated place where they pick up the toys.  People in town gather on the streets to wave. The bikers with people on the back throw candy to the kids, and its a lot of fun. Far left is the "terrorist" bundling up for the ride.  Middle is Brian and sister Vickie who rode her bike on her first toy run.  Right is a very big stuffed penguin on the back of the bike.

Far left is looking back from the drop off point.  We were close to the beginning of the line and the line stretched both sides of the street for miles.  Same place in the middle picture and Brian and I got someone to take a picture of the both of us. This is the first year that I've gone.  I rode on the back of Brian's bike instead of Vickie this year.  Next year, I'm going to bring the candy!!!

Another "last" for us was the boat parade in Friday Harbor.  We've had Santa on our boat for the last few years.  We go out with the other boats, make a pass and then take Santa to the dock where his elves and all the kids await him.  From there he goes off and delivers presents.  Far left, I get a pic with Santa, middle, Joy Surbee gets a pic and far left, Lainey Volk and grandson Jeffrey get in a pic.  The Surbees and the Volks joined us as always and we had a great time.
Brian makes everyone wear a Santa hat.  Joy hams it up with Bill behind her on the far left.  Brian has the "pimp daddy" christmas hat, middle pic.  The far right is John and Lainey with grandsons Ian and Jeffrey.  Brian and I count ourselves blessed to have spent this time with John as that he passed away unexpectedly 2 days later.  We have had so many wonderful adventures with the Volks and have loved the time we've spent with them.  We will miss John's caring and kind soul.

Christmas was at the condo once again.  Far left is the table full of appetizers, middle is brother Bruce and Bill, followed by mom, Vickie and Moe
The boys ham it up a bit on the far left, Bill sports his new motorcycle mask to liven things up a bit and then Brian's new boob tube remote control steals the show.
During the holidays we got together with family and friends from out of town.  Far left, sister Cathy and her husband Malcolm were in town for a few days from Tennessee.  Middle, Shelly and husband Kevin were here from Rome, and far right, Russ, Shelly and I pose for a picture.  The three of us have been friends for about 27 years now.  We always have some good times reminiscing about our exploits, much to the boredom of those around us!! :-):-)

January brought the big Seattle boat show.  After getting the new office thrown together in December we put 5 boats into the boat show.  Far left shows some of our boats.  The weather was fantastic for most of the show, so the middle picture shows my fascination with my shadow once again. :-) Far right is junior boat boy at the indoor show.  Oldest son is now selling boats for Lake Union Sea Ray of Redmond.  He's been going gang busters and really likes selling boats.  A future Selene salesman in the making!!!!! :-):-)

March was my Mom's birthday.  We took her to dinner and she got some free tickets for the Rod Stewart concert that same night.  So it was a treat for all of us.  Far left is Rod, middle is mom, and far right, Brian gets a new addition to his motorcycle.  Not only more chrome, but ape hanger handle bars.  The ones they put on were a mistake, being a bit too high, but he wanted to try them out.  He had ordered the shorter ones which are on now and he's feeling the love!!!!

April we took a ride up to Darrington and back.  Brian wanted to take a reaaaaallly long trip with the ape hangers before he sent them back for the shorter ones.  Middle picture, oldest son Bishara turned 24.  Middle, a few friends and family gathered to mark the event.  And far right, the birthday boy makes a wish!!!!

Back to where we started on this website.  The 2007 Selene Rendezvous at Roche Harbor.  Far left is Brian at Roche Harbor.  We took our boat up on Sunday and flew back on Monday.  Middle photo are some of the 35 boats that attended.  Far right are a few boat world friends and me having a good time at the Friday night docktail party.  It was a lot of work, and Brian and I look forward to the day that we attend the event as just "Selene owners" instead of having to put on the 3 day affair.
Far left is a picture of the restaurant.  The middle and far left are pictures of the mausoleum.  There is a history to it .  For some great info on it and Roche Harbor visit http://www.rocheharbor.com/walkingtour.html  It is a bit of a hike out to it, but it was worth looking at.  I always have some free time on Sunday before we leave, so I try to find something interesting to see in the area.
And of course after discovering the sculpture park last year, I had to see what was new.  They are always adding pieces and taking pieces that have sold out of the park, so you can always find something different when you go.  These are some of the favorites I found this year.
The far right picture is one I find amusing. You approach the easel from the back side, so don't know what it is until you come around to find a mirror.  The title of the piece is "untitled".  Pretty clever.
Far left, a fun bench in the park, middle is a metal alligator, and far right is a real turtle that took a little time out for laying in the sun.

Opening day of boating season 2007 was great fun.  Picture on the left are the gang that joined in the festivities.  We were on the boat, tied to the log boom, so got a birds eye view.  Middle, Captain Happy loved the day.  Far right, you can see that it was a bit chilly as Tess hunkers down to stay warm.  And of course the adults fortified ourselves with food and wine!!!!
The day starts out with the canoe races, followed by all of the rowing races and then comes the parade of all the different boats.  There are so many wonder types of boats going by, I could have filled a whole page on this sight.  I love the old Chris Crafts, and there were some great steam driven boats also.  If you haven't been to opening day, it's a must to see at least once.
The theme was musical notes from the past, or something like that.  Elvis on the far left won first place.  His lips moved as well as his eyebrows and the Elvises on the front were a hoot.  Middle, the yellow submarine was another favorite.  It was very well done.  And far right, for those of you like Tess, who was too young to have seen and much less believed that cars could drive on land and in the water, the water car was a treat.

First weekend of June, we managed to get away to one of our favorite rides to Sol Duc Hot springs on the Olympic Peninsula.  It has a bit of a history and was very cool before it burned down way back when.  To get a little information, check out http://www.historylink.org/essays/output.cfm?file_id=7591  Far left is the little store we stop at to stock up on niche books to read while we're there.  Middle, Brian enjoys the 108 degree pool and the far right is the more mild temperature pool where I hang out.
Far left is a picture of the front of the check in, gift store and restaurant.  Middle, Brian and I relax on the swing in front of our cabin where we were serenaded by one of the guests playing his flute.  There is a river running in front of the swing and listening to it and the flute was amazing.  Far right is Granny's cafe, where we always stop for a bite on our way home.  They have a great collection of salt and pepper shakers.
On the way home, we took the Pt Townsend ferry and the back roads on Whidbey Island.  Dinner at the ever famous Conway Tavern, a biker hang out on just about any given day, and far right, Brian waiting patiently for grub!!! :-):-)

Time for Trawler Fest once again.  This year they offered a two day women's only boat handling class.  Brian volunteered our boat, so the far left and middle pictures are of the class.  We all had a great time and I got to dock our boat for the first time ever.  I also got to pull away from the dock when we left.  Brian is training me as his replacement so that he can nap more!!  Far right is a shot of the marina.  For a look at what it's all about, go to http://www.trawlerfest.com/
Here are a few pictures of the touristy part of Poulsbo.  It's cute and suppose to be reminiscent of a Norwegian town.  Brian managed to do a sampler of pickled herring and some other horrible things for lunch one day.  He didn't find any ludefisk much to his dismay.  Ah well, there's always next year!!!

We took a great motorcycle trip to eastern Washington over father's day weekend.  Far left is Brian in front of soap lake.  If you've never been to soap lake, there's a reason for the name.  It has some minerals in it that makes it feel soapy and it forms soap suds at the shore.  Middle picture is the lake and far right is Brian in front of a little cafe in Banks Lake where we shot a game of pool waiting for lunch to arrive.
We headed over to Coulee Dam.  Here are some shots of it.
Winthrop is always fun.  It's done up like the old west and is a great destination when riding on hi way 20.  The far right, middle and right are shots around town.
We always stay at the Freestone Inn right out side of Mazama.  You can see one of the cabins in the back ground as Brian has a snack on the porch of ours.  Middle picture is the view from the hot tub and far right is Brian in the hot tub.
We always stop at the look out above Ross Dam on the way back from Winthrop.  Far left and middle are shots from the look out.  Far right is Brian talking to a fellow biker while i visited the ladies room.
Far left is another shot and in the middle, a girl volunteered to take a picture of us.  We were laughing as that after a trip to California on the bikes where we had pictures of us with helmets and swore to never have another photo with a helmet on since we looked like aliens in the pictures.  Far right we stopped at Brian's favorite ice cream caboose in Marblemount.

At Painefield on June 20th, the B17, B24 and B25 were taking people for rides.  Far left Darlene, Brian and I pose for a picture in front of the B25.  Middle and far right is the B17 with Brian and his dad.  His dad was a tail gunner in a B17 during WWII and was shot down then spent 2 years in a prison camp.  It was a trip down memory lane for him to ride in one again 64 years after he'd made the last flight before being shot down.  It was amazing to listen to the stories he told about his experiences.

Moving to the big city meant finding a new yacht club to be a part of.  Far left is our choice, middle is Brian with our sponsor Chuck Gould who works for Nor'westing Magazine.  Far right is the only picture I got of the induction ceremony before my camera battery died!!!  Always a good thing to check the battery charge before heading for an event.  Duuuuuh

Far left is the only photo I got of our outing to the roller derby.  Good friends Barbara and Glenn partook of the evening.  Here we are with Rat Bastard and one of the Socket Wenches.  Middle pic, I was down at the beach and got to see the USS Lincoln making its way back to Everett.  The helicopter escort flew over the beach close enough to see the guys inside wave back to us as we were waving.  Waaaahoo!!!  Far right, we took a day ride on the bikes over Chinook Pass, Blewitt Pass and Stevens Pass.  We stopped for breakfast at our favorite Buzzy's Cafe.  We also stop here in the winter on the way up to Crystal Mt.
Far left is the always spectacular Mt. Rainier.  It's really breath taking to see it so up close and personal from this particular look out.  I had to zoom out to get all of it in the pic.  Middle is Brian playing with the snow at a rest stop, and far right, we stopped at the park on the Yakima river for a swim.  It was freezing.  Brian took a quick dip and got back out.  I got in up to my shins and called it good. :-):-)

We spent the 4th of July at the Queen City Yacht Club cruise at their out station in Winslow on Bainbridge Island.  Far left is one of the many chalk drawings on the sidewalks and street.  Middle, the clowns take a little rest before clowning around.  Far right is the clown bus.
This has to be one of the longest parades we've ever seen.  Everyone in the town seems to be in it.  Every day care, every junior league baseball team, soccer team, hockey team and so on.  A few shots of the parade, and then on the far right, there is always entertainment for the kids.
Far left, Brian takes a pit stop.  I just couldn't resist taking the picture.  Middle, Brian stops to pose by a Statue of Liberty in one of the shops.  Which inspired him to do the all American thing, find an ice cream stand.
